HFC Members Inspired By Sixth Annual Celebration In late September, about 275 people from sixteen congregations and two church plants gathered in Fairfield, CT for the Sixth Annual Celebration of the Harvest Fellowship of Churches. In addition to the HFC members present, a number of guests also came from Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona and Canada. All came to hear and experience what the Lord has been doing among the HFC churches this past year and to be encouraged by inspirational worship, special presentations, and a challenging message from God's Word.

What a joyous celebration the afternoon brought, including multi-lingual/multi-cultural worship, wonderful testimonies, and special introductions of our newest members, the Anabaptist Native Fellowship (including Navajo, Hopi and Ojibwa nations). The gathering was a marvelous microcosm of heaven because of the many nationalities present, including African-American, Asian, African, Hispanic, American, and Native Americans!

A number of people commented about their experiences at the meeting: “That was the best HFC Celebration ever! Powerful! Every HFC member should come to these celebrations!” And, “What a combination of testimonies, worship and music – the Lord used it all to lift our spirits and strengthen our faith.”

We congratulate Pastor Bogale, from the Ethiopian Word of Faith Church in Las Vegas, NV who came from the furthest distance. However, it was Pastor Wally and Liz Detweiler and their family members who drove all the way from Western Ontario, Canada, a distance of over 2,400 miles one way! God bless you folks!

We heard several exciting testimonies — one teenager shared how her mother had left the family a year ago, precipitating a great deal of hurt. At a recent spiritual retreat, however, she found healing and forgiveness. Another young lady shared her story of past rebellion, even while in the church, which led to a sinful lifestyle. But again, during a retreat just this year, the Holy Spirit drew her back to the Lord Jesus and restored her.

The HFC Overseer, Rev. Henry Buckwalter, introduced the new 2009 HFC theme –– “Growing in the Likeness of Jesus.” He spoke from II Cor. 3:17-18, calling all to grow into the likeness of Jesus by: 1) cooperating with the Holy Spirit and His transforming work; 2) aggressively remove all hindrances to spiritual transformation, especially pride, unforgiveness, and any residual “love for the world.”
|
|
Rev. Buckwalter also shared several 2009 priorities for HFC, including: 1) Pursuing Spiritual Intimacy with the Father; 2) Strengthen Marriages and Families; and 3) Strengthen Focus on Evangelism, Mission and Church Planting, among others. In addition, Rev. Buckwalter was led to pray a ‘word of blessing’ over the Pastors and their wives; a very encouraging prayer for each one!

This year’s meeting also provided a special “Youth Focus” that allowed all the children to have their own service. This ministry was provided by Youth Pastor Elyano Nascimento and Children’s Pastor Mike and Jill Mahoney from Gospel Light Community Church, as well as and Pastor Mike Gaiotti from Faith Mountain Fellowship. We greatly appreciate their input and leadership in this important ministry.

Three others we want to recognize and thank: Evangelist Hector and Jennie Muniz, who gave such wonderful direction and management to the event, making sure all the many details were provided for and that nothing was left undone! Thank you, Hector and Jennie. We also thank the entire congregations of Gospel Light Community Church (Bridgeport, CT) and the Beacon of Light Community Fellowship (Waterbury, CT) who provided the delicious and bountiful meal!

Henry Buckwalter, our Overseer
Henry has been serving as Overseer of the HFC congregations since the organization's inception, but initially he was on a part-time basis. Since October of 2004, Henry was released from his other responsibilities and is now available to serve HFC with his undivided attention. We are so grateful for his dedication and commitment to the HFC organization! Henry's wife, Millie, is assiting him in some of his ministry assignments with HFC, especially when relating to the Pastor's families. Millie is also a gifted speaker and serves the HFC churches with her intercession.
